WATER INFO INCORRECT IN LAST ISSUE

WATER INFO INCORRECT IN LAST ISSUE

A story that ran in the August 2023 issue of the East Wilco Insider under the front-page headline “Samsung Effect: Zoning Changes, Land Deals and Water Rates” contained inaccurate information that needs to be corrected.

The story states: “Jeff Wood, the city’s chief financial officer, said residents will see an 8% increase in the water-usage tax in 2024 because of Samsung.”

Wood did not say that, and it is misleading to keep that information available for public consumption.

A video from the Taylor City Council special meeting on July 25, available at https://taylortx.new.swagit.com/videos/267803, explains the 8 percent utility-rate increase is due to the need for our existing infrastructure to be repaired, which Wood explained in the meeting.

At no time has he stated that the utility rate increase was because of Samsung.
